The Perfect Pesto

Fresh pesto is one of the quickest and easiest sauces to make. Not only is the ingredient list short, but it also takes little to no time to prepare. Traditional pesto is prepared with parmesan cheese and pine nuts, however our Perfect Pesto can be made dairy free and nut free. Substituting the pine nuts for Hemp Hearts, this pesto becomes a nourishing Omega 3 rich sauce that can be used for sipping, spreading or tossing with your favorite recipe.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 C of packed fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1-2 cloves of fresh garlic
  • ¼ - ½ C of Hemp Hearts
  • ½ Avocado
  • 2-4 TBSP Ice-Pressed Raw Olive Oil
  • A pinch of Celtic or Pink Himalayan Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • A blender/ food processor

Optional:

For more fiber add 1 TBSP of Sprouted Chia or Flax Powder

Dairy Free - Nut Free - Vegan

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Yields: Roughly 1 Cup


Preparation:

  1. Combine the basil, garlic, hemp hearts, avocado, salt and 2 tbsp of olive oil in a food processor/ blender
  2. Begin by pulsing the ingredients
  3. Add more olive oil to reach desired thickness
  4. Blend until smooth
  5. Store and refrigerate in an airtight jar for up to a week*

* Can also be stored in the freezer for up to 4 months
